Materials and Tools

4.5mm crochet hook, for all animal/body sections

5.5mm crochet hook, for the blanket section

Yarn Needle

Baby weight (dk) yarn (I used Bernat Baby Sport Ombre in the colorway cool blue)

A contrasting yarn for the face details. This can be a different weight than your main yarn.

Note: You can size the pattern up or down by using larger or smaller hooks. The yarn is also flexible. If you want to use worsted weight yarn, I recommend sizing down your hooks.

With your contrasting yarn, embroider a nose on the flat, circular surface.
Attach between rows 12 and 20, across approximately 10 stitches

Sew closed
Attach in the middle of the head from row 3, downward to row 10. Curve backwards when attaching.

Face

Now that the crochet wolf head is complete, you can embroider the wolf’s eyes.

With your contrasting yarn, embroider lines resembling closed eyes on eyes side of the face. I recommend starting 4 stitches to the left/right of the middle of the snout and ending 3-4 stitches outward and one row down.

Arms

Blanket

5.5mm crochet hook

The blanket portion is a classic granny square pattern.

Row 1: ch 3 (counts as dc), working in the ring, 2 dc, ch 3, 3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc, ch 3, join to first ch 3 with sl st (12 dc)
Row 2: sl st in next 2 stitches so you’re working in the ch 3 space, (ch 3, 2 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) all in ch 3 space, (3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) all in next ch 3 space, repeat from * to * around, join to first ch 3 with sl st (24 dc)
Row 3: sl st in next 2 stitches so you’re working in the first ch 3 space, (ch 3, 2 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) all in ch 3 space, 3 dc in the space between the 3 dc groups from previous row (3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) all in ch 3 space, 3 dc in between the 3 dc groups from the previous row repeat from * to * around, join to first ch 3 with sl st (36 dc)

Assembly

Attach the blanket to row 24 of the head

Attach the arms to either side of the head
